Part time Clinical Tutor Vacancies
The School for Health, University of Bath is looking to recruit part time Professional
Development Advisors (PDA’s) in the field of Sport and Exercise Medicine to support students
on the PG Dip / MSc in Sport and Exercise Medicine.
The Programme is delivered online and is flexibly designed to fit around the other commitments
of our students and part time staff. Typically we are looking for PDAs to commit to a minimum of
two years online teaching support and assignment marking with the potential to continue
this support with future cohorts. This equates to approximately 10 hours of support and guidance
per student including marking of their final assessment. You will be allocated a maximum of 10
students for over the 2 year period. Staff development units are available to help you get to
grips with the online environment and you will work as part of a supportive programme team
consisting of doctors, physios, sport scientists, academic and administrative personnel.
The primary purpose of the PDA will be to help SEM students identify their professional learning
and development needs and to help them identify appropriate opportunities to fulfill them. In
addition, you will be required to provide formative feedback on submission of professional
development experiences and summative assessment of case studies and the final portfolio.
In addition we also have vacancies for part time clinical teaching staff to support the delivery of
clinical components of the Programme. Typically these face to face teaching events take place
3-4 times a year at Bath University and cover clinical examination and biomechanics of the lower
and upper limbs and the spine. There will be training opportunities for these face to face
teaching roles including shadowing experienced teachers at these events. We would expect a
commitment to teach at at least one event a year and ask that you are currently involved day to
day with SEM as a practitioner.
If you would like to express an interest in the vacancies please send a cover letter and brief
CV to Polly Clark, email: p.l.clark@bath.ac.uk, tel: 01225 383534 or contact Polly for further
information.
